Three Bibles

Why do I want to do this?

I still haven't settled on a 'favourite' translation of the Bible. I tend to use the New International Version, but that's really only because I happen to have a copy of it. I'd like to make an informed decision about which translation to use.

How will I know I've done it?

I'll have read the same book of the Bible three times, in different translations. Any translation counts. I am including the books in the Apocrypha, though I doubt that I'll fix on any of them when it comes to it.

I'll record this at [personal profile] stapsreads.

Why do I want to do this?

Other 101ers have much more ambitious TV-related goals than this. Watch the entirety of Buffy. All the Doctor Who episodes that weren't actually destroyed by the BBC. And so on. Why am I aiming so low? Because I actually wouldn't do this if I didn't have this prod. Perhaps it's something to do with growing up without a TV, but I can count on the fingers of one hand the programmes of which I've seen an entire season. I don't think I've ever seen a whole season at the time of broadcast (I should note that this doesn't form part of this goal).

How will I know I've done it?

I'll have watched every episode of one complete season of any TV series.

I'll record this in this journal, probably.

Why do I want to do this?

I like food. I much prefer eating decent food to eating boring food when I have the chance, and not having to a) think about it; and b) cook it; is something I very much enjoy.

How will I know I've done this?

I'll have eaten six meals (of at least two courses each) at restaurants. Two of these meals will have been eaten at restaurants I've not visited before.

I'll record this in posts in this journal.

[One - Charlie Choy's (new to me)] [Two - Jamie's Italian - new to me] [Three - Rumwong - new to me] [Four - Pizza Express] [Five - Da Mario's - new to me] [Six - Shabab Pavilion - new to me] [bonus Seven - Safran - new to me]

What's this about?

TED is a fantastic thing. Interested people talking about interesting things, things they love. Many, many fascinating talks to watch online.

Why do I want to do this?

Because it's dead interesting, and I'll never do it otherwise.

How will I know I've done it?

I'll have watched 101 TED videos from beginning to end.

I'll record this in posts in this journal. Click on the numbers below to see talks I've watched.

Why do I want to do this?

I think it's very good for me to play around in other writers' universes. With any luck this will also prompt me to finish stuff, rather than have it lurking on my hard drive for evermore.

How will I know I've done this?

I'll have six completed stories, of at least one thousand words apiece, based in a universe that is not of my own creating. Stories written for other people, prompts, and challenges such as Yuletide count, as does finishing anything I've already started, provided that I add the thousand words in the course of this challenge.

I'll record this in this journal, but the resulting works will be posted at the Archive Of Our Own.

The Works

Why do I want to do this?

I've won NaNoWriMo three times, so this ought to be easy. However, in each case I won it by writing stupidly large amounts on some days, and stupidly small amounts on other days. I'd like to get into a better rhythm, though I'm under no illusions that this will induce good habits.

How will I know I've done this?

For a period of thirty consecutive days, I'll have written 1001 words every day.

This can be tracked at 750words.com, when I've played around with the settings a bit so that you can see them. Or I might find some other widget to do it.
