Quilt Top Completed

What's this about? Why do I want to do it?

My sister-in-law is pregnant, so I want to make a cot quilt for that baby. Plus, quite a lot of my friends are attached and might have children in the next few years. It's good to be prepared.

How will I know I've done it?

I'll have completed two cot coverlets.

I'll record this in posts in this journal.

Baubles

What's this about? Why do I want to do it?

Years ago, when my parents split up, I hit upon the idea of buying a pair of identical Christmas tree ornaments and giving them one each, because they were both still my parents, even if there were now two houses and two Christmas trees. It became a bit of a tradition. Now I've moved out myself, so there are three trees. I bought a set of six filigree angels last year - two apiece - but would like to make a set myself.

How will I know I've done it?

On three separate Christmas trees there will be three identical or very similar ornaments, which I have constructed or substantially decorated myself.

I'll record this in posts in this journal.

Picnic: Cathedral Green, Exeter

What's this about? Why do I want to do it?

I'm an alumnus of the University of Exeter, and as a result am deeply attached to that city. In a happy coincidence, my church choir will be the visiting choir at Exeter Cathedral the week of my 26th birthday. This is too good an opportunity to miss.

How will I know I've done this?

I'll have celebrated my 26th birthday in Exeter with representatives of: my family; friends from Exeter; HT choir.

I'll record this in a post in this journal, and probably a more detailed account at [personal profile] el_staplador.

My Brother, With An Accordion

What's this about?

I used to think that my family was a bit odd. Later, I worked out that it was indeed a bit odd, but not really much more so than anybody else's. Anyway, it has some fantastic stories, and also occasionally communicates in a fasion not entirely comprehensible to the outside world. ('Snape', for example, is not a character in Harry Potter, but a baby's nappy.)

Why do I want to do this?

I hate the thought of stories being lost as people die or grow senile. An oral tradition is all very well, but I'm not convinced that there's enough of us with good enough memories to keep it going. Safer on paper.

How will I know when it's done?

I'll have twenty family stories, and fifty family words or phrases, written down. This will only scratch the surface of the stuff that's out there, but it'll be a start.

I'll record this on [personal profile] el_staplador.
